House of Desmond
"In life we make History; in death we make legend"
Founded PD 128 by Vladmir Desmond, the House of Desmond originates from the planet of Givious, entering into Velikorossiyan politics by marriage. In the past, the Desmonds were the Czars and Czaritsas of Imperial Givious, and later Northern Givious following the legal sessession of Southern Givious, which became known as the United Free Givosion Republic.
On September 21, PD 191, Princess Hesira of the House of Desmond married Czar Mikhail III, forever tying the two monarchies together. Since that time, through the process of two civil wars, the House of Desmond was deposed and the House of Monsetavich seized power. This new Givosion dynasty is only vaguely related to the Desmonds, and the official stance of Velikorossiya is that Areskor Avil Monsetavich is an illigimate ruler, and that Czaritsa Hesira I and the House of Desmond (her, her daughters, and their descendants) are the only legal successors to the Throne of Givious. For this reason, relations between the two nations have deteriorated greatly in recent years.
In order to propagate a continuing Desmond line, an agreement was made with the Romanovs that all female children of Czar Mikhail III and Czaritsa Hesira I would be to the House of Desmond, and all males to the House of Romanov and that both lines must formally renounce their claims to the opposing line, as well as the claims of their future descendants. This ensures that neither House may usurp the other, or attempt to impose their authority over the other, creating a sense of equality between the two Houses of Velikorossiya.
